Co-Founder & CEO
Keith is CEO and co-founder of SuSeWi. Prior to co-founding SuSeWi, Keith was an SVP and Global Head of Public Sector Consulting at Capgemini, a 150,000 person technology, consulting and outsourcing business. Since coming to the United Kingdom in 1997 Keith served as a Director at the Department for Constitutional Affairs (Ministry of Justice) and as a principal at Northbridge Ventures, a private equity investment company. While in South Africa, Keith was a Global Account Manager at the Monitor Group and Head of the Africa Government Practice. Keith holds a Masters in Business Administration, a BA with Honours in Industrial Sociology and a BA in Political Science from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. He served as an Economic Advisor to the African National Congress when it was unbanned. Keith is a trustee of the Nelson Mandela Legacy Trust.
Toby leads our UK research team, coordinating new and ongoing research programmes. Prior to joining SuSeWi he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Imperial College London, developing the biocatalytic production of solar fuels from phototrophic cyanobacteria. His background and experience is in algal and cyanobacterial growth, photo-physiology and primary productivity, particularly in response to climate change and other eco-physiological drivers. He has extensive experience in chemical engineering, bio-optical sensor development, algal culturing, microbiology and analytical biochemistry. He holds a BSc (Hons), MSc (Hons) and PhD in Marine Biology from the University of Essex.
William is a Project Manager, coordinating the various teams to enable them to deliver in full and on time. Prior to joining Susewi, William managed multiple global workstream complex projects for medium to large scale entities in the ERPs, data infrastructure and software arenas. Experienced in the biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, consulting and financial services (commercial banking and insurance) industries, William holds an MSc in Project Management from the University of Westminster.
Dr Raffael Jovine
Co-Founder & Chief Scientist
Prior to founding SuSeWi, Raffael was an SVP at the International Institute for the Safety of Medicine (ii4SM) and an executive consultant with CapGemini in the UK and Booz & Co. in the USA. Before this, he was VP for Science and Applications at ZPM Inc. a biotechnology and water treatment start-up and was postdoctoral scholar and researcher at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). Raffael undertook sponsored research at MIT in Applied Biological Sciences. He has authored or co-authored more than 27 patents and is trained in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry.
Randolph is a Chartered Engineer with 40+ years experience as an infrastructure designer and civil engineering contractor. He has a demonstrated history of working in the project management consulting industry and as Principal Contractor. Randolph has considerable experience in city development/design, earthen & rockfill dams, industrial and commercial developments, wastewater treatment & drainage, as well as airport, highways and hospitals construction. He has designed and managed projects in 18 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe.
As a Research Assistant, Monika is responsible for isolating, growing and maintaining algal cultures and conducting experiments to optimize growth conditions. Previous to SuSeWi she worked at the University of Cambridge on Antarctic snow algae project. She holds a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Guelph and an Erasmus Mundus Master in Marine Environment and Resources from the University of Southampton, University of the Basque Country and the University of Bordeaux.
Deniz is focused on product development and design in addition to food analysis and market research of new products. Deniz holds a PhD (Food Science) from University of Nottingham and BSc (Food Engineering) from Ankara University.
Sam’s responsibilities include analysing operational data from the production site, correlating algae growth to environmental and operating conditions, and supporting data analytics from laboratory research. Prior to joining SuSeWi, Sam graduated with an MA in Music from University of Birmingham, and undertook courses to develop his expertise in data analytics and coding, specialising in Python and VBA.
Finance & Capital
Riccardo is in charge of capital funding for SuSeWi. He also covers the role of Finance Director as well as IT and HR functions. Previous to SuSeWi he was a Private Equity investor investing in over Eur 500m of clean energy projects. He holds an MBA from the London Business School and an MSc and BEng from University of Nottingham. Riccardo serves on the board of the London Business School Energy Club and advises the European Commission on clean energy investments.
Aditya leads our engineering projects. Prior to joining SuSeWi she involved in large-scale projects in India, UK and Australia. Aditya is a trained and qualified architect, with over 5 years of professional experience. She holds a master’s degree in Spatial Design from the Bartlett, University College London.
David is a research assistant and the liaison for science and production coordination between our UK and Moroccan labs. Prior to SuSeWi, David spent a year in the Florida Keys leading research teams to investigate effects of ocean acidification on coral calcification, simulating algal blooms impact on ocean chemistry. He holds an MSc in Marine Biochemistry from the University of Amsterdam, and a BSc in Biological sciences.
Dicle leads our Product Development efforts. Her role is to develop relationships with customers and manufacturers. Having a great passion for food, Dicle has worked in the food industry over 10 years. She previously held positions in product research & development in corporate companies and also her own start-up. Dicle holds an MBA from Bogazici University and a BSc (Food Engineering) from METU, Turkey. She also studied as a guest student in MSc (Management Engineering) in Politecnico di Milano.
